Boat Barbeque
I love barbeques, and I love messing about in boats. I decided I needed a safe BBQ for my Jaguar 22, and was wary about all that plastic to burn or melt!

Looking around, all the marine Barbeques commercially available cost an arm and a leg. I liked the Boat-B-Q one that takes disposable barbeques (saves clarting around with lighters and charcoal) but wasn't prepared to pay a hundred squid and they didn't even bother answering my e-mail enquiry anyway (don't you just wonder how some people stay in business?)

So I tootled along to Halfords and bought a bicycle cast-alloy handlebar stem bracket for £12.99. The clamp has a 25mm tube clamp for the handlebar, and a 32mm tube clamp for the handlebar stem. Next was a trip to B&Q for some bits of 35mm alloy angle - cost about £8.

It was a simple matter of cutting up the bits and either pop-rivetting them together or bolting together. The longest part of the rack is simply two pieces of angle bolted together and then fitted into the slot which would normally be the 'take-up' area of the clamp when tightened up on the stem.

Here are some pics of the clamp and the finished article. (I need to fit another cross piece to the tray as the disposable unit you see here is an Aldi unit which is slightly smaller than usual ones I buy and needs a little more steadying support.

The rack is rock solid when bolted to the rail, and quick enough to remove and store below. There is plenty of sea water around to cool it off quickly for immediate storage 8:)
