Replacing saloon headlining

A common problem with ageing Westerly Yachts is a ‘drooping’ headlining as the adhesive fails. I didn’t really want to replace mine and fancied a ‘fitted timber’ look anyway, so spent a few weeks wandering the DIY stores but failing to find a suitable or reasonably priced product.  By chance, Aldi stocked bamboo rugs one week and I thought these look like they could do exactly what I wanted. See what you think!  Total cost for main cabin and V berth walls was £75 for the rugs and £15 for the Evo-stik impact spray adhesive. (Click on any image for a larger view)

Buy the rugs! These were 1800x1200 mm

Use a straight edge to cut across the

You can see the foam backing (great for insulation) and how easily the item can be rolled.

This was the 1st section to be glued in place. Evo-stik spray adhesive is VERY strong and clear (not that awful brown stuff). This section covered the whole width of the cabin.
